As we all know choosing the title for the film is very important especially for our film. As an independent low budget small production film the title might be the thing that determines whether people will watch this film or not. When we were planning for the shooting we first named our film as Ceiling. That’s because we were so into the amazing ceiling we have in the library and we wanted to make our film artistic and like a literary horror film. Also, when we set up the red head in the library the shadow of the shelf on the ceiling looked so creepy and if we shot it in different spot and angle, it looks just like something evil is creeping towards the girl. However, even we thought Ceiling is a great name we find it not so appropriate at the end as the one of the most intense scene we have is the black footprint at the end in addition this foot print carries so much meaning it indicates that what will happen next and it’s the point that disturb the audience as what happens in the dream is coming into the real life. And obviously there is a huge diversity between the ceiling and the footprint and it will seems to be a bit funny if Ceiling as a title comes after that last scene which is a foot print on the floor. So we decided that we have to change a name for our film. As there is a strong period and artistic feeling in our film and we have a mix race actress as our protagonist we decided to use historical foreign language to be the title. We first choose MCDIIIXI AD which is the Roman numerals for 1834 AD we though this is a very cool name which is very mysterious and period. But we didn’t use it as it might confuse people as the Roman numeral is a bit complicated. After some other research we find a Latin name Sacrarium which means a place where scared things are kept, sacristy. We find it suit our film quite well. And it has got the right feeling we want which is mysterious and period.
